Welcome!

I am an Assistant Professor of Economics at Middlebury College. I received my Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University.

My main research interests are economic history, and law and economics. I study the role legal institutions played in the historical development of Middle Eastern economies.

Currently, I work on legal forms of firm organization, corporate governance, firm dynamics, and the effect of legal reforms in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries in Ottoman Turkey and Egypt.
